Samish Island Nature and Adventure Camp Retreat

Your Sanctuary. Your Community. Your Home Away from Home.
July 9 – 13, 2026 | Bow, WA
Ever feel like you need a “reset button” for your soul? We’re talking about a place where you don’t have to explain your identity, navigate micro-aggressions, or worry about a single meal.
Welcome to the Samish Island Nature and Adventure Camp Retreat. As the only BIPOC-led, BIPOC-centering, and intergenerational sleepover camp of its kind in the nation, we’ve created a space where culture and nature don’t just meet – they celebrate one another. Whether you’re coming with family, friends, or as an individual, you’re not just a guest; you’re part of a community that grows stronger every year.

Why You’ll Love It Here
We know life is busy, and planning a vacation can sometimes feel like a second job. That’s why we’ve handled the heavy lifting. Our all-inclusive model isn’t just about convenience – it’s about giving you your time back.
- Family-Friendly Pricing: We want to make it easy for the whole family to join. Children ages 5 and under attend for free!
- Easy Payment Plans: Don’t let the total cost stop you from joining us. You can lock in your spot today with just a $50 deposit and pay the rest over time.
- 11 Nutritious Meals: Forget the camp stoves and coolers. You’ll enjoy 11 made-from-scratch meals starting with dinner on Thursday through breakfast on Monday.
- Home Comforts in the Wild: We’ve got two spacious, full-service bathroom buildings and an on-site laundry room. You can pack lighter and stay fresh throughout the trip.
- Zero Decision Fatigue: No “what’s for dinner?” or “how much does this activity cost?” Once you’re here, everything is covered.
- Predictable Budgeting: One flat fee covers your lodging, all activities, and every meal. No hidden costs, no stress.
- Nature is Medicine: Science shows that just 20 minutes in nature significantly drops your cortisol (stress) levels. We’ve got 80 acres of it waiting for you.

We want you to be comfortable, no matter how you like to camp! Select the option that fits your vibe when you register:

- Tent Camping: For the traditionalists, we have beautiful grassy spots to pitch your tent.
A Multigenerational Experience
From the youngest campers to our honored elders, there’s something for everyone. Our programming is Indigenous-led and POC-led, ensuring every activity is culturally rooted and safe.
- Cultural Connection: Native-led ethnobotany walks, fry bread making, bead crafting, and storytelling.
- Adventure & Play: Canoeing on the bay, birdwatching with experts, basketball, and our famous “Talent Optional” show.
- Rest as Resistance: Sometimes the most “productive” thing you can do is take a nap in the shade or enjoy a quiet moment on the saltwater shoreline.
- For the Kids: Watch your children grow in independence and social confidence in a space where they see themselves reflected in the leadership around them.
