This year we’ll be in Eastern Washington at Lake Wenatchee State Park\, nestled in the foothills of the North Cascades near the tourist towns of Leavenworth and Plain. This is a relaxed\, beginner-welcoming\, socialized dog-friendly space to reconnect with community\, nature\, and ourselves. Bring your family. Bring a friend. Bring yourself. \n \n🌠 Share stories from this year’s outdoor experiences\n🪵 Relax around the fire ring with new and familiar faces\n🚶🏾‍♀️🕵🏽‍♀️ Meander and geocache\n🪐🔭 Stargaze and enjoy a dark sky astronomy program on 8/15 courtesy of Ranger Tomas and The Wenatchee Valley Astronomy Club\n💧 Float\, rent SUPs or sit-on-top kayaks\, snorkel or swim\n🐴🚲Ride a horse or your bike\n🪨 Discover the geology\n📖 ✍🏽 🎨📷 Read\, write\, paint\, or practice photography\n🏞️ Just BE in beautiful surroundings \nMorning coffee overlooking the lake\, sunset reflections\, visits to the Camp Store for ice cream? Every day! \nOur Director Denice (aka Scout) is always in this crystal clear water\, and she’ll be tryin’ to get y’all in there with her. \n \n  \nGet me to the park! \n  \n\n🏕️ Lake Wenatchee State Park Highlights\nLake Wenatchee State Park\, situated in the Wenatchee National Forest\, resides on 489-acres with 12\,623 feet of waterfront on crystal clear glacier-fed Lake Wenatchee. This is a very special natural wildlife area with interesting geology. You’ll find: \n\nComfortable group site perched above the lake situated among an enclave of trees apart from the main campground\nBuoyed swim beach\nTents dispersed on flat ground (group site does not accommodate RVs)\nRestroom buildings with flush toilets and sinks\nBathhouse at the beach\nCamp store where you can pick up sundries\, hot foods\, ice cream\, coffee\, etc. at the beach\nElectric outlets are available in restrooms\nNo covered shelter in the group site\nPotable water spigots\n\nIn consideration of other campers\, pets need to be vetted prior to registration so email us if you’re considering bringing a non-human family member. And if a burn ban is in effect no wood or charcoal fires will be allowed. \n \n\n📋 Event Details\n📍 Location:\nLake Wenatchee State Park \n🕓 Arrival & Departure: \n\nArrival begins Friday\, August 14 at 4PM\nCheck out Monday\, August 17 by 1 PM\nCamp for as many or few days as you’re able. SUMMARY:Our Place on the Waves: BIPOC Evening Sailing on Bellingham Bay
DESCRIPTION:Our history is tied to the water.\nHistorically\, Black people used canoes\, worked as sailors (“blackjacks”)\, and navigated waterways\, though they faced significant barriers in\, and exclusion from\, recreational water sports later on.  \nWhile many stories have been erased\, the truth is that Black and brown people have deep roots as master sailors. In the early 19th century\, one out of every five American seamen was Black. For many\, the ocean wasn’t just a workplace\, it was a path to freedom. Frederick Douglass famously escaped slavery disguised as a sailor\, and the first six autobiographies written by Black people in English were penned by seamen. From Crispus Attucks to the nameless mariners who navigated by the stars\, we’ve been outchea on the waves. \n\nhttps://thebronzechapter.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Evening-sail.mp4\n\n\nThe Magic of the Blue Mind\nThere’s a reason poets\, musicians\, and dreamers are drawn to the sea. Sailing offers a unique mix of absolute freedom and profound silence. It’s a reset for the mind that pulls us away from the noise of modern life and tucks us into the rhythmic motion of the water. \nWe’re leaning into Blue Mind theory\, which shows that being on the water triggers a meditative\, calming effect on the brain. When you’re out there\, the sight of the horizon and the sound of the hull cutting through the waves naturally lower stress and cortisol. It’s not just travel; it’s medicine. \nGet me on the bay \nWhat to Expect\nWe’ve partnered with the Community Boating Center Bellingham to get our community out on the water. You don’t need to be an expert to join us. You don’t need any experience at all! Whether we’re lucky enough to see seals playing in our bow wave or feeling salt spray on our skin\, this is about connecting with the natural world and each other. \nQuick Details: \n\nDate: August 15\, 2026\nTime: 6-8pm\nLocation: Bellingham Bay (Fairhaven)\nCost: $30 per person\nCapacity: Small groups (4 people max)\nAges: 10+ (Ages 10-16 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian)\n\nKnow Before You Go\n\nSafety & Gear: We’ll provide your Personal Flotation Device (PFD).
