Sea Kayaking: Rescues and Recoveries (August 27, 2023)

Join Community Boating Center and The Bronze Chapter to become a more confident and self-reliant kayaker and to learn the important skills of how to rescue another capsized paddler! This class will teach the skills needed to help you and others stay safe in a tipped-over situation. The reality is everyone falls out of their boat at one time or another, but relatively few know how to get back in their boat and even fewer know how to help someone else re-enter after a spill.

This super fun class starts with wet exit practice in the shallows to get comfortable. Then we’ll progress to paddle float self-rescue, cowboy self-rescue, assisted T-rescue, and cover multiple bracing and edging techniques. Understanding the limits of you and your boat is key to being safe on the water!

All needed equipment and gear will be provided. If you have your own drysuit or wetsuit, feel free to bring it. If you’d like to learn in your own kayak, please email Community Boating Center first.

Watch this to be inspired!
